Microsoft to release the 27-year-old source code to 3D Movie Maker
3D movie Maker was a software suite released by Microsoft in 2000 that allowed users to create their own 3D movies. The suite included a number of tools for creating and editing 3D models, as well as a library of pre-made assets. In 2017, a programmer named James Roadley-Battin asked Microsoft if they would be interested in releasing the source code for 3D movie Maker. To his surprise, Microsoft agreed, and the source code was made available to everyone. This is an amazing example of how open-source software can be created from even the most unlikely sources. Thanks to Microsoft's willingness to release the 3D movie Maker source code, anyone can now create their own 3D movies.
