1Middle-earth: Shadow of War interview with Bob Roberts, the design director of the game.
We first of all are just huge fans of the source material top begin with, so we try to really in just all the themes and all of the ideas that are kind of the big important things that play in this world and then we work with Middle-earth Enterprises to ensure that all the all the new stuff that we're adding is consistent and thematically approriate and doesn't conflikt with any of the more specified to canon stuff.
It's fun to see where those tendrils are fleshed out more in various parts of his writing verses where they really are just a little thought that you can see going into the distance and it is just like it's very inspiring to see such Mysteries.
We researched a lot we getting a room and throw ideas out and brainstorm and discuss and try some things and then pass them around the team, email or discussions and just keep iterating. Once we have something that we feel good about we will pass it to the Middle Earth Enterprises people and they'll give us their feedback and there's some people down at Warner Brothers who are in associated with Miller Enterprises, who are also just such extreme Tolkien Scholars that their feedback is really nice to have as well.
