Wow, I'm back! Actually, the downtime was half-because my main computer had complications and stopped displaying a picture while I was at work and now I'm on my old system (with 4GB of RAM, *whee*), and the other half-because I spent a week trying to nail down a 'perfect' Dyna run. Normally, I'd let an extra hit or combo drop go (as long as I hit 50, then it's all good) but somehow since I committed to uploading only S Rank runs from now on, I just couldn't bear to share any run that I felt was subpar. I mean, it's not like I want to do no damage runs just yet. I'm okay with sacrificing some damage as long as I can complete the stage in the flashiest and fastest way possible, and no special weapons. Dyna's stage was the worst so far in that respect, though.
There's a total of 96 combos to get, 4 off Dyna and the rest by enemies. Stopping forward progress at any time cold throw off your timing with the periodically attacking enemies, like the spark generators or the Magnemite-like enemies that fly in a circle. So it's severely important that you come up with a solid routine that produces the most consistent results that you can handle. What makes things worse is that there's only 2 major sections in the stage with the 1st section being the more problematic one in terms of timing. See, unlike in Mega Man where enemies can spawn almost at the border of the screen as you approach them, MN9 will spawn the enemies quite a way ahead of you, roughly about a half to full screen length ahead offscreen (That's most likely done because of the dashing mechanic). That means the enemies will be 'active' before you even see them. Another example of this is in Brandish's stage, where you can shoot at enemies offscreen ahead of you during the auto-scrolling section.
Anyway, here's my damn fine S Rank run on Dynatron's stage. Nevermind the fact that I drop the combo at a really heartbreaking point...I spent too much time on this stage, time to move on.
