This video analyzes the plot of Perfect Blue, the 1997 animated horror/mystery by Satoshi Kon. The movie tells the story of Mima, a Japanese pop idol who finds herself connected to a collection of mysterious crimes that she fears she may have committed -- despite the fact that she has no memory of committing them. For these crimes seem to fulfill some of her deepest desires.

My discussion of the plot also focuses on the motivations of Rumi, who acts as Mima's agent and functions as an alter ego of sorts.
