Netherite cannot be found on its own but can be created by smelting Ancient Debris in a furnace, which results in a Netherite Scrap. If you combine 4 Netherite Scraps with 4 Gold Ingots, you can craft a Netherite Ingot.
Ancient debris generate in the Nether in the form of mineral veins. Two veins generate per chunk: one vein of 1–3 ancient debris generates with a periodic Gaussian distribution (similarly to lapis lazuli ore) between levels 8–22, and an additional vein of 1–2 ancient debris generates randomly between levels 8–119. There is an average of 1.7 ancient debris blocks per chunk, with a maximum of 6. Ancient debris never generates exposed to air.
The Nether Update is an upcoming major update themed around revamping the Nether. This update was announced at MINECON Live 2019. The update is to be released on Java Edition as version 1.16
