The point of the speedrun is to spawn in a brand new world and kill the ender dragon as quickly as possible. Generally this involves collecting enough iron to make a bucket and iron pick, make a nether portal, find a bastion to collect gold and barter for enderpearls, find a stronghold to kill blaze for blaze rods/powder, travel back to the overworld to find the stronghold and get to the end. The dragon is killed using beds as they explode in other dimensions that are not the overworld.
