Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs Update Delayed, Minecraft Snapshot 21w15a (My Reaction 😔)
6Mojang, the developers of Minecraft have decided to delay the Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update by splitting it into two parts! The first part will be released Summer 2021 and the second part will be released Holiday season 2021.
Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update will be split because quality, technical challenges, team health and Mojang do not want to rush the 1.17 update.
Summer (blocks, mobs and vegetation)
- Axolotl, goats, glow squids and warden(?)
- All of the vegetation added from the Lush Caves Biome.
- No mention of the Warden of the Deep Dark cave biome.
Holiday (world generation)
- Technical challenges (cave biome generation, addition of mountains and world height increase).
- Mojang will be putting all of the generation updates in one update, which means that players should have no problems between each update.
Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs Data Pack (snapshot 21w15a):
The Caves and Cliffs world generation will no longer be available in Minecraft snapshots, the new snapshots (from snapshot 21w15a onwards) will focus mainly on the Minecrft 1.17 blocks, mobs and vegetation.
The Minecraft 1.17 world generation have been moved to a separate data pack that can be download on the Minecraft website (below).
Mojang Team
- Mojang developers don't want to be under a time crunch.
- The coronavirus pandemic has been hard on everyone and they want to make sure their developers are happy when they are working on the new update.
