Hey guys! I'll be showing you what Notch has included in the patch. He has given us in order of greatness imo:

Smooth Lighting - this is a light effect which makes minecraft look stunning - you can turn it off or on, but beleive me, you'll want it on!

Beds - a bed is a new item in the game which, when you right click it at night, you "sleep" in it and it skips you to day, so there's no more waiting around. It is made like this: 000, wool wool wool, woodenpl woodenpl woodenpl.

You can now rename your world files as well as have more than 5 worlds! The down side is that you will have to convert every old world you had - which takes a while...

There is something new to do with redstone repeaters - I havn't got the slightest idea, but Im sure it will open up new features with restone circuitry.

There are 3 new half-size blocks in the game - I know one of them is a wooden slab - not sure about the rest though, sorry!

There are of course bug fixes etc.

Also, there is now a scroll bar in the texture pack menu and the world menu instead of dragging in the texture pack menu.

New logo when you start Minecraft.

And, finally, Notch has updated his server software to whitelist and remove players... It's not that impressive considering everybody who makes a server running software can get those commands included as well as LOTS more! So - he could have put a bit more effort into the server, but I guess he knows that people with big servers don't use his jar file anyway.
