Part 2 - Glowboxes

Part 2 expands on lessons learnt from Part 1. It achieves the same effect as the simple Glowbox but instead of revealing a light source it replaces a none light emitting block with a glowstone block. For us the most important lesson learned in this tutorial is that a redstone torch on the side of a block that is within a redstone circuit will change the state of the circuit between on/off.

Even though a light switch is not really an obstacle we would consider the lack of light an obstacle. We think making levels which would be dangerous to explore without having to first turn on a light is a great way to softly introduce players to their new surroundings. It is also great for highlighting curtain areas of the map like where to go next or what the ultimate objective is etc.
