These will improve your fps in Minecraft Java 1.17.1 especially on low end PCs. These methods will help you fix your lag in game (client-side). Played on Minecraft Java version 1.17.1 Caves and Cliffs update, and should be doable in future versions too!

Method 1 - Vanilla Game Tweaks

In this method I show the tweaks you can do in your normal vanilla game using the official Minecraft Launcher. If you apply these settings, it should give you fps boost in your game. If it doesn't help and you cannot get 60fps or maintain that, then move to Method 2.
Method 2 - OptiFine with Optimised Settings
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In this method, we use the OptiFine mod for its performance gains. I apply extreme optifine settings to help bring down lag and boost our FPS. In my opinion, these settings and tweaks should help you achieve some nice FPS in your game. If you go over 60 and get in the range of 100 then you can even try using some shaders too. If for some reason OptiFine is not compatible with your hardware then try Method 3 where we use Sodium and a few Fabric performance mods. For extreme FPS requirements, also check out Method 4.

Method 3 - Sodium with extra mods (FPS Modpack)

Sodium is a very good performance mod. Instead of showing you how to download sodium and sodium extra on their own, I showcase a modpack where I compiled all the Fabric performance mods into one modpack. You should test this on your system to see if you can get better FPS in your game or you want to add some more Fabric based mods. If you don't get any boosts in your game or need more performance fps boost, then move to Method 4. Don't forget to allocate more ram to your launchers.

Method 4 - Lunar Client with Optimised settings

Use Lunar Client if everything else fails or you want the max fps! This is not 100% guaranteed to work on all systems but should be good on most modern systems. Lunar client comes with OptiFine and its own performance boosts which can really help achieve the highest FPS in your game. Make sure to disable all of Lunar's mods in the Mods section and use the settings shown in the video. Allocate more ram in the settings of the launcher before playing.
