Minecraft (Xbox One) - Revisiting TIM Land - Part 3 - Converting From Xbox One Edition to Bedrock
My original Minecraft world. It was the first world I spent considerable effort in, with a 95.8MB save file (104.3MB in Xbox One Edition)*. I started it with Eyeiszik and a girlfriend on Xbox 360 in 2013†, upgraded to Xbox One in 2014†, did not play for 5 years until we revisited it on October 8th, 2019 -- see parts 1 and 2 -- and, finally, did not play for 1.5 years and are now revisiting it again on May 21st 2021 -- starting on part 3. It is a bit surreal to go back to all of our designs. We realize a lot of our design is not so great, but historically or nostalgically valuable!
*Now, my JIMK Land is more vastly explored, with a save file ~3 times larger at 216.3MB (272.5MB in Xbox One Edition).
†Approximated dates and times.
Cool story: It was in this world that I had what I call a "gaming moment," which is a moment in gaming that is truly remarkable. I have maybe had 10 of these moments in my life: I went on an adventure with my girlfriend and we got lost. I had never got lost in a video game before. I mean truly lost. It is impossible for the most part. We lost our map. We did not know where we were. We did not know how to return home. We used the sun to orientate ourselves and give a direction heading. We heading back in what was only an approximate direction from which we came. Potentially, the direction was not accurate enough to meet up with our home base, and we could pass right by it. We truly FELT lost. Eventually, we recognized some of the biomes and area, or at least thought we did. We followed our instincts and diverted to a more accurate direction. We then recognized more and more nature! We could feel we were getting closer to home! Eventually, we KNEW we were home. And, soon enough, we could see home. (P.S. We did not have access to map coordinates.) It was amazing. To me, it showcased one of the amazing powers of Minecraft as a video game.
