Other than clicking the little yellow icon in the window header, you can also enable an option in System Preferences that lets you double-click the titlebar to minimize any windows in Mac OS X.

This is a really old feature that used to be around in much earlier versions of Mac OS, longtime Mac users should appreciate it!
