Minimizing latency for gaming | BenQ Zowie XL2740 Review
Your monitor, system, mouse, ping and even your headphones are adding to your overall latency. These are some tips on how you can minimize that overall latency to help you get to your full potential.
An easy one is to get a 240Hz monitor. In the past I haven't really cared that much and I can still play well at 144hz, but if you've seen the reaction time tests getting lower in the reviews, it's because I switched to the XL2546 and now to the XL2740 (I prefer bigger screens).
So the tips to minimize latency:
Get a 240hz monitor (or more when they're released)
Get a top tier mouse (visit my site http://www.rocketjumpninja.com/ for more info)
Don't play on a laptop (unless you confirm it doesn't have high latency, which most seem to)
Use a wired headset
If you're using G-Sync or FreeSync make sure you limit your frames to maybe 5 under the refresh rate, so if you have a 240hz monitor, limit them to 235.
And some software can mess with your times, so try to be a minimalist with what you install, essentials only
