About Missile Command

Released into the arcade market in 1980 and ported to the Atari 2600 Home Console in 1981 where it sold 2.5 million copies, Missile Command is considered one of the great classic video games from the Golden Age of Arcade Games.

Play is simple, launch a missile from a base to intercept incoming missiles. If all your cities are destroyed the game is ended. If your launch bases are destroyed, you have lost control of being able to protect the cities. If your launch bases have fired all missiles, you have also lost control of being able to protect cities.

While this browser based flash version is similar in many respects to the original, its difficulty level increases faster than on the Atari 2600 console.

You can choose to launch your protection from specific bases, or have the default Closest Base be the launch site.

As missile command increases in difficulty, smart bombs come down which can avoid your defenses and the crossing planes and satellite probes also drop their own missiles. As they are closer to the ground you will have less time to see and deal with their launches than the normal incoming missiles.
