In this episode, we play through the first part of Chapter 5 of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Flight! In this episode, the woman found by the mercenaries in the previous episode wakes up. She claims to be Elincia, the forgotten princess of Crimea. Although they initially don’t quite believe her, her claim is made real when Daein soldiers attack in order to kidnap her. The group debates whether or not to had her over, but it quickly becomes clear that the Daeins will attack anyway. They prepare to fight. This chapter takes place in the mercenaries’ base of operations, and takes place at night. In difficult and maniac modes, this chapter features fog of war. Fog of war hinders player units’ sight, but not enemies. Meanwhile, I discuss my recent experience going on a mission trip to Cormorant, Manitoba, Canada.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Fire Emblem 9/FE9) is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems (a division of Nintendo) for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005. It is the ninth entry in the Fire Emblem series, a beloved Tactical RPG series known for its engaging gameplay, interesting characters, and support conversations. Path of Radiance tells the story of Ike, a young Mercenary who lives in the Kingdom of Crimea. When the neighboring nation of Daein invades Crimea, Ike and his mercenary company are forced to evacuate Crimea. When they encounter the lost princess of Crimea, Elincia, their lives change forever. What ensues is a journey of reclaiming their homeland, and confronting a deadly evil. Common themes in the game are racism, the circumstances of one’s birth, and the consequences of war. Path of Radiance is one of the most sought after and expensive GameCube games, and so not many Fire Emblem fans have been able to experience it. So I want to share the game with the world!
