In this episode, we finish playing through the first part of Chapter 7 of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Shades of Evil. In this episode, the Greil Mercenaries finish taking out the last of the enemies in Fort Meritenne. After a very unfortunate death for Boyd against the boss, we take down the sage boss Balmer. The mercenaries head into the room where Greil and Petrine are fighting, only to see the 2 evenly matched. Suddenly however, Petrine calls in Daein troops from all sides, surrounding our army. Luckily, laguz beast tribe warriors from Gallia arrive just in time to save the mercenaries, and a mysterious soldier in black armor orders Petrine to retreat. Ranulf, the leader of the laguz, leads the mercenaries to Gebal Castle where they are permitted to stay the night, Ike and Greil go for a walk. It is interrupted by the mysterious soldier, a fierce warrior known as the Black Knight. He challenges Greil to a fight, and Greil is killed. Dead.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Fire Emblem 9/FE9) is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems (a division of Nintendo) for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005. It is the ninth entry in the Fire Emblem series, a beloved Tactical RPG series known for its engaging gameplay, interesting characters, and support conversations. Path of Radiance tells the story of Ike, a young Mercenary who lives in the Kingdom of Crimea. When the neighboring nation of Daein invades Crimea, Ike and his mercenary company are forced to evacuate Crimea. When they encounter the lost princess of Crimea, Elincia, their lives change forever. What ensues is a journey of reclaiming their homeland, and confronting a deadly evil. Common themes in the game are racism, the circumstances of one’s birth, and the consequences of war. Path of Radiance is one of the most sought after and expensive GameCube games, and so not many Fire Emblem fans have been able to experience it. So I want to share the game with the world!
