NOTE : In the board overview I stated the TOP I/O board USB was the hub. I meant to use the chopstick to point at the BOTTOM USB port / hub board. Always hard doing this through a viewfinder! You can ignore the top USB for now and just use your BOTTOM USB ports for controllers / keyboards / etc etc.
I asked, you answered...and I try to listen :) Of all the requests for new content on the channel one of the most frequently asked for videos is a series on the Terasic DE-10 Nano MiSTer FPGA hardware...so here it is!
This is the first in the series: I will go over the base hardware and my recommended hardware accessories and additions to get the best MiSTer experience possible as well as show you how to set up your MiSter, add games and get playing today!
This video does not include anything about best video modes, filters, etc etc. That will come in a future episode.
Getting the operating system on the MiSTer and updating all the FPGA cores isn't hard but it's certainly a bit more time consuming and involved than a plug and play Mini console so I gave you a full Mr. Fusion OS installation and update tutorial in the video!
It's an amazing piece of FPGA hardware that is a must own for any retro gaming enthusiast or arcade gaming fan. It runs everything from Neo Geo to Sega Genesis to Super Nintendo to the NES to Gameboy Advance to the original Gameboy to the Capcom CPS hardware to probably your toaster and maybe pacemaker too?
In future episodes I will be reviewing different MiSTer cores against original hardware, doing some hardware and controller mods, reviewing different wireless controllers and who knows what else!
