Mel is front and center as Zach, Ron, and Duck see how one SMB Fangirl was conceived to be.

It's the final battle against Ingram, Lord Time Diver. Eliwood - son of Marquess Pherae, Linoan - Duchess of Tahra, some random nobody form New York, and an even more random Super Mario fangirl stand tall with an assortment of weirdos as they square off against the Messenger of the Void. Megan's powers gifted from Athos are temporary, but she'll put all of that World 8-3 knowledge to use for good and all. Oh, and there be dragons I guess.

At last. It's put to rest.
This trip down memory lane had its ups and downs. While it's awkward to look back at an old piece of work you made proudly once upon a time with scornful eyes, there was a good deal of self-reflection present as well. It was absolutely fun to play this alongside my friends and we can laugh with and at it together while talking at length about the dev process behind many of the changes, big and small. FE404 served as the springboard to get into creating more original characters and eventually an original setting for them to frolic in, and even if nothing tangible has ever materialized from that springboard since, it also aided, however slightly, to improve as an artist and writer, as my later ROM hacks would attempt to attest to.
There's a lot of goofiness for what is but a simple FE7 reskin, but it no doubt played a small part in the eventual momentum to carry GBA FE ROM hacking forward that something like this seems so base now. That's good, it shows that we're improving. We should strive for it always. But also it's fun to look back at a piece of ancient history and wonder how we got here.
Thanks to all who came to watch and join me on this playthrough. Stay tuned for a Dev commentary on the small oneshot birthed from this project - Yuri Tanaka's Sidestory!
