A change of pace! Alas, we can't do the game that actually involves Toad paying off mortgages with Dragon Quest characters by his side as all AI play is far too intrusive to be enjoyable, so have the next best thing - Final Fantasy characters paying off mortgages with Dragon Quest characters alongside instead!
It's Itadaki Street, a game series that dates as far back as the Famicom, basically Enix's take on Monopoly that's just as slow building and destructive, but no less fun. Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy have been doing this dance together for some time, and go figure the one time they decide to switch dance partners with the Mario gang, -that- one makes it to America as Fortune Street. Mama mia...
This PS2 version has a gaggle of goons from most of DQ's history teaming up with a lot of the PS1 and 2 FF era gang to make big bucks. Also Spheres are involved now, they can be set on a separate die and used to bestow various effects to spice up the gameplay, pretty neat! (you do lose out on the Venture Cards though...)
Our first take goes right into my ol' stomping ground of Alexandria! Vivi does not get to go see I Want to Be Your Canary this time, but is dragged off by a Slime, Based God Auron, and some Russian chick with a funny hat to play jacks instead. Tetra Master, this ain't.
