Modular Launch Pads v2 Dev Demo: General Crew Elevator and Access Arm
A demo/guide to the new v2 General Crew Elevator and revised General Crew Access Arm.
The elevator tower is modular, with tower core sections in various heights that can be copied, the base and/or crew sections and top turned off, and stacked to create a taller elevator tower. There are three elevator max height settings, with the highest being 123.75m, and which is controlled from the lowest tower section.
The elevator car has an extendable walkway that can be used to provide Kerbal access to a launch pad's deck, or act as a a very short and simple crew access to a spacecraft's hatch.
The General Crew Arm has two styles, either an open truss or an enclosed type that's inspired by the SpaceX crew arm for Dragon 2. Both styles have multiple length options, and the mount can be switched to other types that allow the arm to be used with the Saturn tower and Shuttle FSS crew access sections. Those tower sections have also been revised to allow the general crew arm to be mounted to them.
Both parts and the revised Saturn and Shuttle tower crew sections are now on my Github, AlphaDev branch.
