15Journeying from Monument Valley to the Grand Canyon amidst a sandstorm is a surreal experience, where the desert's raw power meets its breathtaking beauty. Starting on US-163, the sandstorm shrouds the iconic rock formations of Monument Valley area in a swirling haze. Visibility diminishes as you merge onto US-160, where the relentless wind buffets the vehicle, turning the landscape into a shifting canvas of sand and sky. Turning onto US-89, the desert's rugged terrain gives way to undulating dunes, all obscured by the storm's fury. Finally, reaching AZ-64, the road to the Grand Canyon's South Rim, as the storm clears and each turn reveals a new facet of the canyon's awe-inspiring beauty, a testament to the enduring allure of the Southwest desert.

This road trip was part of a 16 days hiking trip to the Southwest USA national parks, preserves and monuments, April 2023.
In this trip I visited Death Valley, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, The Grand Canyon, Mojave and Joshua Tree.
This video was shot using a GoPro 11 and a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone (see links below).
Two days before this hike, my GoPro and Insta360 cameras lenses were damaged while hiking in Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef. These are noticeable in parts of this video. I got the replacement lenses only a few days later when arriving at the Grand Canyon.
