I feel extremely bad about not recommending this game at this point of time, especially since it's a labour of love made over SEVEN long years (see https://medium.com/@eigenbom/how-to-take-7-years-to-ship-a-beta-4fcfc2428d88 ).

However, let me explain what I don't currently like about this affair. Firstly, there's no tutorial, which makes the game a daunting prospect to learn. Kinda like Terraria years back, which was also stupidly obtuse and difficult to get into.

Next, the procedural generation is pretty iffy. The first world I generated was pretty solid, with easy-to-find checkpoints, a good variety of loot, and all - but it got ruined when I got knocked off the edge of the world and softlocked as a result. The second one was...not much better, as it involved far more trial and error, digging apart random places just in order to progress. And that, let me tell you, isn't particularly fun.

Not to mention the fact that combat is a pretty awful kitefest, because your enemies are pretty tanky, and your weapons might as well not even exist, such is the pitiful amount of damage you do to them.

Hopefully I'd love to revisit it later on and see whether it feels better later on - it's such a shame, as the audiovisual design is still pretty great.
