I did many solo and online games on horde mode to test different weapons and buy orders. (the video is one of my testing runs, I used different weapons and buy orders.)

Here is the most successful build I've found:

- Early Game:
→ Hoe or Fists (Not a huge difference in terms of the economy since you'll get more kills if you buy the hoe)
→ Scythe ($90; the best weapon early game, one body shot non-armored enemies and one headshot light-armored enemies)
→ Medium Chest and Head Armor ($200 & $150; more ranged enemies start to spawn around this point)

- Mid Game:
→ Maul ($350; more medium-armored enemies start to spawn around this point, Scythe only deals 35 on the head while the Maul can even one headshot heavy armors)
→ Heavy Leg Armor ($200; prevent damage spike on the legs)
→ Pavise Shield ($130; it automatically blocks ranged attacks and therefore helps you to escape from longbow and xbow men groups)
→Heavy Chest and Head Armor ($400 & $300; it's very punishing if you make mistakes in Horde Mode, Heavy Armors may save your life.)

-Late Game:
At this point, buy whatever fits your play-style.
I recommend having one range weapon to deal with those tomatoes that throw firebombs. A fast or long weapon that can deal with the ninjas. A stack of bandages.
