So I've been spending a bit of time doing some testing, and May's kart combination on RIW actually does make it more common to get the USC. With the testing I've done, I get the USC on Lap 1 approximately once in every 20-30 minutes. Lap 2 is less common because of being able to do less attempts in a row, but I believe the coins do make it slightly more common than getting on lap 1, it just takes longer to get an attempt. This should be viable to improve the current flap wr for this track.

Going more into how the USC is actually performed, most of the time you will want to counterdrift slightly more towards the left side, so that when you start your drift towards the shortcut you will climb it faster. This is important so that you can head towards the shortcut at approximately the same angle you would head towards it if aiming for a regular shortcut. However, the goal is to aim to just about be to the left of the wall so that you won't just get turned around by the wall. In the example I included in the video, I didn't counterdrift as much since it was on lap 1 and I therefore have a lower speed so it isn't as important. But for lap 2, it might take some trial and error in order to determine the best setup for not turning in too late. Most of what I've just wrote is just what I've found works for me, other things might work better for other people. The only thing that you definitely need to remember is to not brake at all, unlike the regular shortcut. Other than that, I think the rest might be a case of trial and error, I still don't understand it too well. This is just what I've gathered from the testing I've done.
