The Grey Man
You may have heard of a game called Masochisia. We recently played in on our channel. There was something about it that drew us in. We didn’t know what it was, but there was something special about it.
As you all know, I fall in love with games that hold back a bit of a secret from me. And I think that is what was making me really like it. It had a secret.
In the beginning of the game, you see a flash of a man who jumps at you. The voices in your head call him “the grey man”. And he looks very similar to a real man, who was once known as “the grey man”.
The Grey Man lived in the early 1900s, and the time period of this game seems to be in the same time period. He also had a father who was 40 years older than his mother, and a brother named Walter. Mental illness often afflicted his family. And he had a sibling who died.
The Grey Man lived his life a very sick man. Doing very bad things. He believed that in order to be redeemed of his sins, he must kill a young child. And that angels guided him, and prevented him from doing wrong. He finally found the right sacrifice.

The Grey Man’s name was Albert Fish. The end of his evils came when he killed Grace Budd, in a rather disturbing fashion. He ate her body over 9 days, which he associated with Holy Communion. He thought that since the angels did not stop him from killing her, he did not do anything wrong. He later sent a letter to her family detailing the fictional story of a famine in China where children were butchered and served as food.
Because of this letter, they were able to find him, arrest him, convict him, and sentence him to death.
Mari, aren’t you digging a little bit too deep? I don’t think so. The developer said we were on the right track. And the description page says “based on the true story”. I thought he was just being edgy, but turns out he wasn’t.
If there is this much hinted and hidden in just the early demo. What other mysteries does Masochisia hold?
