In recent years, a fair few major game publishers have raised their standard AAA pricing to $70. Take-Two was among the first to do it, alongside Sony and more recently Microsoft; starting with Arkane's Redfall. Well, it looks like SEGA is also considering a similar move for some of its titles.

In a recent earnings call (via VGC), the famous developer and publisher said that it had taken note of rising costs, and that it too is set to "review the prices" for future SEGA games.

"In the global marketplace, AAA game titles for console have been sold at $59.99 for many years, but titles sold at $69.99 have appeared in the last year,"

"We would like to review the prices of titles that we believe are commensurate with price increases, while also keeping an eye on market conditions."

In reality, it's been longer than a year since we started seeing publishers move to $70 - Sony started with the launch of its PlayStation 5 lineup back in 2020. However, this month alone, both Microsoft and Nintendo finally moved to that price point - the latter doing so with last week's launch of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Of course, for now SEGA is only reviewing its options and checking the market accordingly, but it certainly looks like $70 will soon become the norm for most AAA publishers. We just hope the UK and Europe get fair conversions from these companies!
