I have a lot of Morrowind mods... But even with over 200 mods, my game has never crashed thanks to openMW (https://openmw.org). I have Tamriel Rebuilt and the preview data installed in my game, and if you are doing a play-through, I would not recommend the preview content. It's huge and mostly empty... I spent a lot of time lost in a beautiful, but empty continent.
