This is an aided playthrough of single player mode using Noob Saibot in the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat 3. Read on below for more information...

NOTE: 1P Infinite Life and 2P Lowered Life is used to help with the playthrough.

Noob Saibot is a hidden character in the game, and he can be fought against by entering a specific Kombat Kode on the versus screen in a 2-player game. He is an unplayable character.

===== HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST NOOB =====

In a 2-player game, enter the Kombat Kode 769342 on a versus screen. You'll then get a message saying that the winner of the round gets to fight him.

===== ABOUT GENESIS MK3 NOOB =====

Noob Saibot debuted in MK2 as a hidden CPU-only opponent, and he is once again a hidden CPU-only opponent in MK3. This time it is far easier to fight against him because all you need to do is to be fast enough to enter a specific Kombat Kode on a 2-player versus screen, unlike in MK2 where a player had to register 50 wins in a row (25 in the Genesis MK2).

Predictably, the Mega Drive MK3 Noob is a disappointment... as all 2D MK unplayable characters usually are. For this version of Noob, when in control of him in gameplay you can certainly do a lot, but are still things you can do that will crash the game. So if you want to continue playing, you cannot make any "control mistakes" otherwise it's Goodnight Vienna. Here is the information on him:

---- He is quite simply a black silhouette of Kano. His bald head and outfit makes him look somewhat like a ninja when he is in silhouette.

---- He actually has a special move, which is Kano's Spinning Cannonball which works perfectly. This is done by pressing Block and releasing it. I consider this to be a glitch move because it's not intended and shouldn't be there. The CPU Noob never uses it.

---- His roundhouse kick (Back + HK) is glitched, because he just freezes during the animation for it. You can hit him out of it though.

---- He actually has a Fatality move, which is Jax's Giant Stomp one.

---- Strangely enough, when playing as him you can get to the Finish Him/Her! event, meaning that he can perform finishing moves or have finishing moves performed on him.

---- Surprisingly, he can be highlighted and appear on the character select screen. However he appears as Kano on this screen, and his animations are slower. When you press a button to confirm it makes a attack thrust sound.

---- On the Choose Your Destiny fight path screen, his icon is glitched.

---- When he is frozen by Sub-Zero's Ice Blast, you can see that he is Kano.

---- When the CPU is controlling him, he does not have nor use any special moves.

---- In a 2-player game, if he is selected then the game will crash when heading into the versus screen.

---- When a human is controlling him, the two things that will crash the game and bring up the error screen is: 1) Releasing the Run button if it's pressed; 2) On the D-Pad/joystick movement, press anything that is on the RIGHT side.

---- When you complete the game with him, it crashes the game, producing the error screen.

---- In the mirror match, both have the same colour palette.

---- When the Toasty man (Dan Forden?) appears in the corner (after an uppercut), he is in black silhouette as well.

===== ABOUT GENESIS MK3 =====

This is a pretty good port of the arcade game. When it comes to general standards, it is a far better port than MK1 and MK2 was... it is now much closer to the SNES port (which is the better standard) due to the conversion now being done by Sculptured Software. Unfortunately due to the Mega Drive's on-screen colour palette limitations, the overall graphics does look inferior and quite grainy when compared to the SNES version. The music/BGM is also rather on the "chiptune" side as well, and the voices are muffled. Despite those drawbacks, the gameplay is intact though so that is the most important thing. It should be noted that the Graveyard stage background is not in the Genesis and SNES versions of the game.
