Mortal Kombat II was the sequel to the critically acclaimed and very controversial fighting game Mortal Kombat. So for this next installation they took everything that made Mortal Kombat popular and built off of it. This meant better graphics, more blood, more levels, more special moves, more fatalities, more fighters and better sound.
Mortal Kombat II had a major face lift in the graphics department even though it was running on virtually the same hardware as the previous version. With extra memory and a refined process, the graphic quality was vastly improved. As in the original Mortal Kombat, they captured real video footage of actors and digitized them into the game. This is why the graphics looked so real.
The amount of selectable characters was also increased with the inclusion of many new characters and the ability to play as Reptile and Shang Tsung. The depth of existing characters increased as new special moves were added and other abilities revamped. Everyone has multiple fatalities and stage fatalities. To lighten the mood, new ways to finish your opponent were introduced, such as Babalities and Friendships.

Midway Arcade Treasures 2 is the second collection of classic arcade games published by Midway for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. This compilation includes 20 games that were not in the 2003 release of Midway Arcade Treasures or the 2005 release of Midway Arcade Treasures 3.
The game plays similar on all three consoles; however, the Xbox version has the exclusive ability to upload scores to an online scoreboard. The special features on each version of the game are the same. These include game histories, developer interviews, and other documents.
