What this is needs no introduction. Why? Because it’s Mortal Kombat, that’s what. To be specific, this is MKX or Mortal Kombat X, a fighting game released for the PS4 & Xbox One.
In this case today, we’ll be focusing on the latest DLC character that has been released: Jason Voorhess. He’s from the Friday the 13th movie franchise that goes around killing anyone that gets in his way. Not only that but he’s motivated by vengeance and he’s one of these slasher villains that just won’t die. He just won’t no matter what you do to him.
In the case of MKX, each character has three Variations that change not only how characters play but provide variety. Jason’s Variations are Slasher, Relentless and Unstoppable. The Slasher Variation has Jason packing his signature machete that he uses to kill people. It’s also the only variation where he can pull off crazy combos. He also gets a move that gives him Super Armor but with a drawback. When its finished, he’s open to attack so use it carefully.
The Relentless variation is all about teleportation and manipulation. He gets a teleport that is fast and useful for mix-ups. And he also has a move that screws your opponent’s controls, flipping them in reverse. Like the Super Armor move, it leaves you open when you’re done. Finally the Unstoppable Variation sums up simply as Jason can’t die. He has various grapple moves that do damage along with several buffs that boost his power or restore his health. The most significant thing about this variation is that if you lose the round and you have meter, lightning strikes Jason and he’ll come back on his feet with some added health. Combine it with the healing buff and you’ll get more health.
Bottom line: Jason is very fun to play with and his variations add extra spice to the game. Not to mention his Fatalities are gruesome and a showcase of how destructive he is.
