Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord - Introduction to the Game and Walkthrough - Video 1 of 2
Heya folks,
My latest video series I'm working on - videos for Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord ("MnB2" or "Bannerlord"). I am still working through some historical WoWS videos, but I really wanted to get this MnB2 one down range for folks who are thinking about whether or not to buy this game.
This video is #1 of 2......effectively it's a 1h 10m video that I've split in two. Why so long? It's a complete walkthrough with guidance and tips, up to where you should be comfortable wandering around the campaign map. For those looking for a quick summary, I might make one at some stage, but this isn't it. ;-) This video set is designed to provide an understanding of what MnB2 is, how it works, and help those who have no idea about it.
The video is also presented by me......an 'average' gamer and not some professional elitist who knows everything about the game. I don't know all of the game content or detail off by heart, and I think that represents the majority of players, so I've tried to present the video as I would want it presented for me.
There are a number of time points for reference as follows:

PART 1 - SETUP (02:11)

PART 2 - THE TRAINING CAMP ADVENTURE (11:28)
- Sword and shield (12:16)
- Ranged (16:17)

PART 3 - CAMPAIGN MAP (22:44)
- UI, character management, towns, castles and cities, armies, cruising on a horse.
- Attributes and skills (27:44)
Now perhaps a few thoughts for consideration.
BLUF:
It's a great game, depending on your perspective, but as it's early access I'd wait a few more months OR buy it on sale for now.
Long version:
It's a great game. However, there's some polarisation from the community, and I think I understand some of the 'why'. There are a bunch of players who played the original Mount and Blade (MnB) 10 years ago, and had an absolute blast because it was years ahead of its time. Personally, I only bought MnB in 2018......and played for 250+ hours.........so it withstood the test of time for content / playability / graphics (sort of).
But.......for so many people, there was this promise for years of MnB2 that never materialised (Star Citizen - I'm looking at you here also). Years. Now that it has finally arrived, there was probably an expectation that it would look like Destiny 2 / Anthem / similar, but play like MnB blended with EVE Online. This is just an opinion, but it does fit many of the comments I've read in forums and such about the state of MnB 2 and what isn't there.
For me, I wasn't a 10 year vet waiting for the game, so I was keen when it was released and I'm glad I've purchase it. I did buy it on sale for about AU$50.....and it is my strong opinion that there is more than ample game content, playability, enjoyment, and variety to make the game worth buying even at this early stage.....and the devs are patching / updating the hell out of it on an almost daily basis. For early access, it is significantly better than many open betas I've been involved in, so there's that. Even the Multiplayer component is not bad, and I've had a couple of fun games there, but it's a work in progress. Graphically, it's rich and full, which you will hopefully see in the videos.
I want more though. There are things that annoy me (repetitiveness of some of the game.....like bandit hideouts, for example), and there have been a few bugs but I haven't really had problems except for 1000-strong castle battles lagging out. It does start to become repetitive at various stages, which is a bit disheartening.......but some of that is me not touching some of the content because I don't need to or more likely because it adds little value to my character growth. There are also a lot of mods that the community has made that really improve the game, which says something about the current content vs what it should be. I am very much looking forward to where this game goes, and I circle back every month and play it again and enjoy it all over again.
Hope you enjoy this video, and if you do buy the game I hope you get the same enjoyment I have so far.
