Mousakas
Cooking it for the first time.
Quantities of ingredients depend on the size of your baking tray.
INGREDIENTS:
Potatoes 5-6
Egg Plants 5-6
Beef Minced Meat 500gr
Tomatoes 3-4
Milk 1ltr
Flour 100gr
Parmesan Cheese
Nutmeg
Salt & Pepper
Onions Garlic 1pc
Bread crumbs
Instructions:
Peal and cut the potatoes in circles then either bakes them with a springle of olive oil or fry them until semi done.
Wash and cut the Eggplants to eithe rcircles or cross section pieces then either bakes them with a springle of olive oil or fry them until semi done.
NOTE: Which ever way to choose to cok the above make sure they are both done in the same way. IF you fry them make sure you wipe as much oil of them as possible, or you will end up with a very oily food at the end. Egg plants are like sponges.
In a pot put some olive oil and heat it up. Add the onion adn garlic finely choped and cook fro 1 min. Add the minced meat and cook until nice brown color. Add the tomatoes and some tomatoe juice if you like and cook until cooked appro 10-15 min.
Take a baking tray and add bread crumbs enough to cover the bottom. Make one layer of potaoes, add cheese, one layer of eggplant add cheese, one player of minced meat add cheese, then do the same again. total two layer of each. On the top we add the besamel.
Besamel: add 100gr of butter adn melt it on a pot. Once melted add 100gr of flour and stir with a whisk. Cook for 1-2 min while whisking. Add 1 litres of milk and keep whisking unitl the besamel comes together.
NOTE: besamle is 1:1:1 ratio so for more mesamel you can do 200gr butter 200gr flour 2 litres of milk.
Add the besamel on the top and some cheese as the last layer. Bake for 20-25 min. Let it sit for 10-15 min before serving. When hot its hard to server and presnt the food.
Mistakes during streaming:
Not enough potaoes/ eggplants where made and resolved in having to rush and make more.
Could have cooked my potaoes more
Eggplant and potapes shrank more than i expected.
Made way too much besamel.
