In Dark Descent the monsters were manifestations of an all powerful evil. In Machine for Pigs they are just... poor people who got swept up in someone else's plans and frankenstein'd into PigMen. Knowing that it is hard to feel afraid of them instead of sad for all the horrific things that have been done.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent developed by The Chinese Room (makers of Dear Esther). Leaning more on narrative than survival to create a horror ambience, A Machine for Pigs engages similar themes to Dark Descent set in Industrial Revolution Era London instead of a gothic castle. Our children have been trapped far below the surface with Frankenstein'd PigMen and a mysterious caller is our only contact in racing down to save them, restarting sabotaged machinery along the way. But at what cost?
