This it the real Toys-to-life!

I played this game a lot as a kid, and I don't remember whether or not I ever actually beat it. Nevertheless, I remember a lot of its tracks, including this one. The game has an unexpectedly great soundtrack, and I was reminded of that when I began playing the Nintendo Switch's remake of the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Hence, I decided to make this cover!

This one's got some funky rhythms and a mean swing to it, so getting everything in time took a long time and a lot of takes. I initially planned to play my electric bass for this cover, but after spending about 30 minutes learning the first four measures, I decided that it was more difficult than I was expecting and instead used a synth bass, which I feel fit the track better anyways. I brought out the EWI again for this piece as well, using a modified version of its preinstalled 'Jazz Flute' sound. I wanted to give the saxophone a less acoustic feel as well, both to fit the rest of the instruments better and to fit the game's industrial vibe. I ended up only modifying lightly with a flanger effect, and I'm happy with how it turned out.
