The given position features a rare tactic over the board. This is white to play in H. Johner - P. Johner, Frankfurt 1905:

1. Be4! and black resigns

if 1... Bxe4 2. h3+ Kg3 3. Be1#

&

if 1... Rxe4 2. h3+ Kg3 3. Rf3#

Here white's bishop cuts off the black bishop and rook at their point of juncture, forcing one or the other to limit the other! In compositions this theme is known as a Novotny. Also, many players who have a square restricted by multiple opponent pieces to be a blind spot, and will categorically never consider such a move. Be mindful of & address blind spots!
