My 2 cents\rant about Homeworld:Deserts of Kharak (50 sub special)
Took much longer to get this out than I had expected and it didn't come out half as good as I'd hoped but hope you guys, and gals, enjoy watching me pick apart a game I've been pretty much clamoring for since my early teens.
Notes:
1) This video tries to hybrid a bit of science into the 2 cents format by referencing real world physics while questioning some of the more glaring lore flaws with the game. I do not go much into detail as the video would've become a series of videos if I did but if anyone has any questions about said references feel free to post them in the comment section.
2) This video is the product of a long term Homeworld 1 fan. It, alongside Red Alert 1 and Starcraft 1, were the seminal strategy games of my youth. I spent a great many years within the Relicnews community, back before shit to brain became a standard rather than a exception in their higher echelons, talking about all things Homeworld and absorbing some fabulous creative works which were either purely fan fiction, atmawpn's work still is a favourite of mine, or based on the stillborn Dustwars scripts *nods at Jaen and Progenitor* . I was there when the Blackbird representative in the community posted up the Facebook offer to join the first wave of Hardware:The Shipbreakers testers, I was haunting the interwebs looking for information about the Homeworld IP post THQ bankruptcy and I was one of those cautiously optimistic about the union between Gearbox and Blackbird to turn Shipbreakers into a Homeworld game but..... Blackbird did what Sierra didn't: It made me abandon the Homeworld series and relegate it to the same bin the Red Alert series now resides within.
Gameplay/cinematic footage is from TerakJK's video compilation of ingame cutscenes.
