My Daughter Plays Retro Games: Half-Life
On this series, take a look with a very special guest back at some older style games with my daughter Allyson. Experience games of the past with a more casual gamer seeing and playing many of them for the first time, as I talk a little bit about the history and my personnel experience as a long time gamer.
On this episode, we check out one of the biggest PC games of all time and winner of over 50 PC game of the year awards from 1998 with Half-Life. Created by Valve to revolutionize the FPS genre to be more than a mind less shooting gallery and offer an experience that many thought couldn't be done by this one time small developer, this game launched them to new heights. We play as Gordon Freeman, a scientist stuck in a top secret facility, looking for an escape after an experiment gone wrong opens our world to a violent and deadly alien world. Using his smarts, as well as several firearms and crowbar, Gordon redefined what a hero in a first person shooter game could be.
