MY FIRST 2.2 LEVEL - "Tornado" by AbstractDark (3 coins)
Before 2.2, i had some doubts about platform mode, I thought that it would change the game negatively, by moving away a little from the rhythm of the traditional mode, and it is for this reason that I began to experiment with the new editor building a traditional level first.
BUT, having tried the first platformer levels, and seeing the great potential that they can offer, I decided to hop on the trend and create a platform level as well.
So i started to gather ideas, and got this theme of storms and tornadoes. At first it wasn't that intricate, but as soon I was thinking of more ideas, it certainly started to grow into something bigger.
I won't deny that it was difficult, because learning new triggers at the same time that getting this idea up took longer than normal. Several times I encountered "bugs" that kept me stuck, just to discover that they were caused by something on my end that i didn't set up first... and other cases that were bugs like the follow camera (which was fixed later), and more…
What I really enjoyed was experimenting with the new SFX and songs from the new library. I can't believe that we have access to so many sound effects that without doubt give the levels much more impact and ambience, such as song loops (like wind and rain). Even though it took up a lot of my time browsing through the song library, and looking for what is best suited to the situation, it was still worth it.
I consider that it's not that bad for my first 2.2 level, although I agree that it can be very simple in terms of design and structure, and using the pixel-type objects that the editor has, but on the positive side, the number of objects is much lower, a little more than 20,000, which is the most optimized that I have been in recent years. I hope to follow this same direction, since I wouldn't like to return creating laggy stuff, but we'll see...
Also, I would like to thank Serponge, Mindcap and Looou for helping me testing the level, and for the suggestions that helped me a lot to improve the level :)
