Its bitter and sweet goodbye and farewell to the gorgeous beast of the rails, the R-42 that has ran for 50+ years in the NYC Subway since May / 9th / 1969 till Feb / 12th / 2020 when its last special run was on the (A) Line ever since it was first in service on the (N) Line, we will all miss this train as it ran well till the end, it will be loved and forever remembered in history as one of the greats, R.I.P R-42 may you be stored in the Historic Transit Museum for your glory. Thank you for your service and trips, good luck, and farewell old friend.

All R-42's are to be replaced by R-179 train cars
