Only those who weighed more than 200 lbs were able to join them, and when they did it was always with great pride. Just imagine it!
Somewhere out there, my fat belly would once have been held in high esteem, and would have been seen as a mark of great wealth.
But no! Hollywood had to intervene with its new beauty standards, and destroy the wonderful world that existed for us chubby people. And then when Schwarzenegger appeared, the world discovered exercise machines, powerlifting and six packs.
I resisted desperately, but the day nevertheless came. Me and my wife are going for the first time to…the gym.
