My Initial Thoughts On The Theta S 360 Spherical Videos
My Initial Thoughts on THETA S - 360 Camera
footage / filming
Absolutely love being able to re-experience the
things I filmed watching those 360 VR clips
through a VR headset (iPhone/Android Phone in
HOMiDO 360 headset) viewing it as a 360 VR
spherical video. What works excellent is the Oculus
VR on Phone or PC. It really gives you a sense of
presence and being there again.
I am still finding my bearings with this camera. I
find that moving it around too much - despite the
image stabilization can interfere with viewing
pleasure as it can drag the camera angle away
from something that the viewer wants to watch.
So walking around with it and moving it should be
done with keeping it as much in the same
position, rotation and angle as possible. Perhaps
other camera's will have a compass next to the
gyroscope basically forcing that apart from the
position of the actual camera.
But with this Theta S only gyroscopes are there.
Which can actually be a good thing as you can
point it to a location and force what the first shot
that people see is going to be. So an opening shot
telling or indicating that it is in fact a 3D video.
I am having quite a bit of fun actually editing the
video together. Thought it was nice to start this
video a projected image of me free floating in a
blue space. Still have to find out what works best.
There's a Samsung 360 VR camera coming
out/out that might even have better features -
higher res videos, but that is even more expensive.
I tried shooting some footage of the arcade
section in Blackpool but that was just a severe
mess of the image moving all over the place. Only
watchable if you don't touch the controls at all as
you'll be fighting for a viewing angle. :P
So I opted not to upload that; but I might still.
What are your thoughts on those 360 spherical
clips?
Mark signing off. :)
