My Thoughts On Cuphead's Difficulty And Should All Games Be Easy?
2Hey everyone, I've seen a lot of people complaining about Cuphead's difficulty recently, and even those that are enjoying that aspect of the game make out that it being hard is a big deal but in a positive way, so it strikes me that this is a topic that warrants some discussion.
To me it seems that games have gotten easier as a general rule over the years, and though that might done deliberately to make games appeal to a wider audience, the point is that a significant number of people seem to feel robbed of the experience of playing a game when they're actually challenged to earn it by having to put some effort in, and that is something I find interesting.
I think it's fair enough if you think that as games are fundamentally meant for entertainment and nothing more it's perfectly fine to not like a game being hard, but based on the fact that so many people have enjoyed Cuphead's difficulty and that it's gotten so popular largely because of it (as well as that reviewer struggling with it,) I think that more games that take some actual effort to complete would be a welcome thing in the gaming world. Some gamers are dying for a challenge, and I can relate as I find it hilarious that a lot of modern games I've played seem to think that I can't remember some very basic controls when I play them and the whole game feels like a tutorial level because of it, so I personally would like to see more variety of harder games coming onto the market.
