Half an A press is a phrase used in low-jumping runs of Super Mario 64, and refers to being able to do something (such as beating a level) while holding the A button the entire time, not actually jumping, effectively using the aftereffect from a prior jump. Holding A changes a few things compared to not holding it, such as what Mario does when pressing B and what height he bounces off of enemies.
