Myst - Oculus Quest 2 - First Look, simply exploring the island. (no spoilers)
Myst

Oculus Quest 2
The Myst adventures has a huge cult following that has built up since the original release in the early nineties that has seen a version on pretty much every console since and now Cyan Worlds has brought the game to VR.
In this my first look at the game I am pleased to say that the story and atmosphere of the island environments has been retained, with a reduction in textures, but the puzzles and locations will all feel familiar to those that have played Myst before.
Movement is fluid with both smooth turning and locomotion available, a simple push down on either analogue stick will allow you to swap between walking and running and smooth locomotion or teleportation meaning that this is suitable for all levels of VR gamers. Interaction with objects is via the grab buttons on either controller.
The puzzles are what made Myst such a well loved franchise and sometimes the answers can be vague, at times you will find yourself trying to solve a puzzle that is further down the storyline, or with you stumbling on a solution and putting two and two together, but this just encourages you to explore more and I never felt frustrated with the game.
When I first began playing I thought that the visuals looked a little simple in detail, but the exploration and puzzles soon hook you in and I never had any issues with interacting with objects or understanding their purpose.
If you like puzzle adventures this game is still a worthy purchase and hopefully will bring a new generation of gamers to the Myst universe.
