Mystery Steam Game Reviews | Reviews Roulette: Ghosts, Donuts And Smelting
In Reviews Roulette we review mystery Steam games (and the odd itch.io treat too) in our eternal search for a pC hidden gem. Every game gets ten minutes to impress Alice and Matthew, but will they dazzle or dismay? The games, that is. Alice and Matthew are always dazzling, natch. Time for Rock Paper Shotgun to play Reviews Roulette.
Random steam key opening is a popular YouTube thing - people buy clumps of Steam codes and open them, hoping to find AAA wonders. All the codes on Reviews Roulette are sent to us by indie developers, so normally take us to more unusual places. This week’s random Steam codes, for example, include not one, but two blacksmith simulators and has us throwing beer bottles at a ghost. If both Matthew and Alice like the game, it gets the legendary ‘Daddy Wallace’ It’s The Daddy award. Should all games be so lucky.
In episode five of Reviews Roulette our mystery Steam key reviews we lose all our bones in our Yet Another Exhausting Day review, lose our minds in the exceedingly dark horror of some Loco Parentis gameplay (only a demo at this point) and rebuild the world in This Little Planet. It’s good to be a god. Thing then take a bit of a turn in Blacksmith and Fantasy Blacksmith - two blacksmith simulators, in case one batch of virtual smelting wasn’t enough for you. And just before things become too industrial, we dip into lock room puzzler Forgiveness. Good donut action.
Short version: if you want reviews of random Steam games (with the odd Itch and Browser game thrown in to mix things up), this is the show for you. Thanks to all the developers who sent in codes - if you have a game you’d like to see in Reviews Roulette, why not send them to contact@rockpapershotgun.com.
