Nascar Heat 4 - Road Course Gameplay on Watkins Glen starting from the back
Need for Speed Heat is still 2 months away but Nascar Heat 4 is already coming out this week and the devs offered me a free copy of the game, so I decided to give it a try. This is my first Nascar game since Nascar 99 back on the PS1.
As you probably know most of the Nascar races take place on oval circuits but there are also a couple of road courses. Here you can see a quick race on Watkins Glen, which is one of my favorite race tracks in games. I skipped the qualifying to start at the back of the field and I also increased the race distance enough to require a pit stop.
Timeline:
0:00 40 car Nascar race on Watkins Glen (12 laps)
7:32 Pit Stop
14:03 Final Lap
15:27 Burnout Attempt
16:21 Race Results
17:03 Track List
17:50 Quick Race Options
The game features 4 different series with the Monster Energy Series, the Xfinity Series, the Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the Xtreme Dirt Tour.
There are quite a few options to customize race length, difficulty and AI behavior, similar to what you have in the Formula 1 games, so for real fans of Nascar it is probably an awesome game but other people should keep in mind that most races in the game will be oval races, so if those are boring to you, then the game is probably not interesting enough for you.
Also a warning: Unfortunately the developers of the Nascar games seem to be big offenders when it comes to abandonware. There is a new game almost every year but they are also removed from the store again very quickly. Even the game from 2017 is already not available to buy anymore, so you won't be seeing any history videos about the Nascar games from me, since it's not even possible for me to still get the past games...
