Despite the early lead, it was a nail biter in the 4th. At that point we had figured out what they were trying to do and they figured out what we were doing. So it's just a war of attrition at that point. The free flow system we run on offense is actually predicated on being able weed out the defense if everyone on the squad is committed to movement, screening and passing the ball to search for the wide open shot. So in essence, it's a practice in patience. I don't know that we were all that patient in this game. Some of us also have a tendency to search of a big defensive steal, but WHEN it fails it leaves one of us covering two guys, and when those two guys are perimeter players, like they almost always are, it's a wide open three. Luckily in the close minutes of the game, we executed both offensively and defensively to get the dub.

- Sauce - is the one guy on our squad that knows the most optimal spots to set a screen. When he sets on the weak side it almost always leads to an open 3. It's the most unexpected thing in 2K also because most centers will either screen for the ball handler, be camped out at either of the corner 3 spots, or in the post. The added advantage is that the other team's center will play off of John, in preference of guarding the rim, so we're often playing 4 v 3 on the perimeter. John also had one or two really timely blocks on the defensive end to keep us in striking distance of the other team.

- Ricky - remains one of our best perimeter threats. He's also not afraid to let the ball fly from farther distance if he's wide open too. His understanding of the "rub screen" helps to free up me and Ronnie in the perimeter. And that's not an easy play to pull off, because so much of that is about angles and timing. It's a baseline element to our offensive scheme, so when he's facilitating that play successfully and also seeing Joe cutting in and making the right read, our offense becomes a thing of beauty and one that's really hard to stop.

- Joe - I think I always make it a point to say that he is our consistent inside scorers, but it's honestly and element we need, especially for 2K22. Rim run up dunks or layups have a higher chance of getting blocked this year when the paint is clogged. So the fact that Joe can pump fake and pivot the defense out of position for a wide open layup or dunk is exactly what we need. When he establishes our inside presence, it acts like a pressure release valve for the shooters when the opposing defense concentrates on covering the perimeter. The fact that he stays in motion, mixing baseline cuts and wing cuts keeps the other team's PF and C from keying in on him and makes him a consistent threat. For me, it's always a point of emphasis to establish Joe as a threat early especially when we know the player guarding him can't actually guard him.

Ronnie - He drew up the assignment of having to guard the main point of attack which is never easy because of the screens (from the other team's big men or us because of a bad steal attempt). Luckily for us Ronnie's on ball defense has ramped up this year and he can guard the opposing teams 1st - 2nd best perimeter players. When you combine his defense with the fact that he's just as reliable on the offensive end, that makes him one of the most all-around players on the squad this year. The pass to the weakside for the open three in the closing minutes of the game was crucial, and the understanding to cut for the game sealing dunk at 27:00 proves that he's one of the scarier players on the court at any given time.
