Another night playing with only four folks from the squad. Luckily 2K blessed us with a rando. Not too often we get a rando at center that bumps John to the power forward position, but it is what it is. I think in the beginning we were conceding to the other team because they were the quicker and we were trying to figure out how the rando liked to play. The other team was build with two play shots, 2 slashers and one true center. This is kind of line up is build for running and gunning and we saw their advantage early. However, they couldn't really extend their lead because I think we organically figured out a way to to rotate defensively to where we needed to be for good contests. The possession at 10:30 highlights the over all effort on the defensive end. We just got screwed with the other team scoring from a long rebound. From there is seemed like we figured out how to collectively guard the other team. To our advantage, I think the other team got intimidated by the activity we were showing on defense and it made them settle for jump shots and that's what allowed us to get back in the game. Here's some key notes for each player.

- Sauce - Like I stated early, John got bumped down to power forward which would normally be okay if it weren't for the fact that the other team's power forward seemed to be a playmaking slasher build. He was looking to take advantage of the speed mismatch between him and John early in game. But the team was able to contain a lot of the later dribble drives by leaving their man a little bit to show in the driving lane and if the switch happened, John quickly committed to contesting the shot if and when it was kicked out to the open man. The advantage for our team was that the interior defense was a little more buttoned up. The Rando guarded the center so that allowed John to operate sort of like a free safety and get a couple blocks.

- Joe - Joe flat out won is individual match up from the start of the game. The other team's interior defense was soft, so Joe was eating early and often. A lot of what he did was what I call quick strike offense. Its based on finding the right passing angle and Joe cutting at the most opportune moment before the defense has time to set up. What made him even more effective in this game is the re-cuts . He was being guarded by a guard or forward that should've been able to stay at him, but Joe covers so much area in our half court set that if the guy guarding him isn't defensively focus he'll lose Joe to our benefit. I also wanted to bring attention to Joe's passing out of the post for the open shot. He did that a lot in this game and a lot more recently and he's done a lot for the ball movement on our team.

- Ronnie - Our most consistent scorer, he's normally the first option in our half court sets because the dude can shoot. However, he's also sees the other team's best perimeter defender. When that happens he become more of a playmaker and helps to look for our other shooters. This game was kind of different. When they were taking away his shot, he spent a couple possession driving and finishing at the basket. And that opened up a lot of his 3 point attempts later in the game.

- Phil - I don't normally put up an analysis and critique on my game, but holy hell man 21 points, 20 assists...I'm HIM. Haha. The points were in the flow of the offense, a lot of which was in the second half of the game. I'm always trying to make the best play and move the ball for the best shot possible, I sometimes need to realize that the best shot possible is me taking the shot. The 20 assists though man. I was seeing the court. All the cuts, the open shots and even seeing the rando when he was open. I was that dude in this game. I was that dude.
