Neanderthals are NOT a Separate Species: Donny (Standing For Truth) VS. Peter (PaleoLogos)
99Many evolutionists (and unfortunately some Young Earth Creationists) are still claiming that Neanderthals are a separate species of human. This is no longer a defensible position. Neanderthals are us. And this what the evidence strongly suggests.
Donny from Standing For Truth Ministries engages Peter from PaleoLogos in this impromptu debate on Logical Plausible Probable's channel. Peter claims Neanderthals are a separate species--and Donny holds the position that Neanderthals are the same species. Peter's reasoning for why Neanderthals should be considered a separate species are refuted in this impromptu debate.
Donny answers questions such as: why are Neanderthals different genetically when compared to modern humans? And what best explains Neanderthal morphology?
"Remember, God created 2 people--Adam and Eve, just thousands of years ago. This automatically restricts diversity. And this is exactly why humans have low genetics diversity today. This is exactly what the Biblical model of Ancestry would predict. This strongly limits the amount humans can vary. When it comes to animals--God created populations of animal kinds in fully functioning ecosystems. This would suggest that animals were given the greater ability to diversify and vary. And this expectation has been met. Most animal species on the planet exhibit much higher levels of diversity than humans. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. But overall--animals have a greater amount of diversity than humans. Evolutionists had to invent a post-hoc story called the out of Africa population bottleneck to explain why humans have such low genetic diversity. And yet this is exactly what the Biblical Model of Ancestry predicted.
What does all of this suggest? It suggests that humans are all one kind--the human kind. And within the human kind we have variations--but these differences are all very minor. There are no different species of humans. Animals appear to have enough ability to vary that one could essentially experience a "speciation" event. Or maybe these are also just variations within the same kind? The ability or inability to interbreed should be able to answer this question. That being said--humans and Neanderthals did interbreed. Humans have Neanderthal genes. We produced fertile offspring with Neanderthals. There is no debate on this issue. Neanderthals and modern humans are the same species."
