154Longplay of the PC version of Necronomicon: The Dawning of Darkness, H.P. Lovecraft-inspired horror adventure game, taking place in Providence, Rhode Island and the american countryside, in 1927. It was developed by Wanadoo Edition, who later became part of Microids, published by Wanadoo Edition and Cryo Interactive in October 2000. It clearly is a derivative of the Dracula: Resurrection and Amerzone when it comes to the visuals and the graphics engine, it's Phoenix VR engine again. 360 degrees FPP camera, together with 2D still environments and 3D models/objects. Here played via dgVoodo at 4:3 4K, with texture filtering set to point sampled for the most crisp look. Recorded at 4K60 H.265 HEVC via OBS.

Normally, since I rated this game a terribly low 2/10, I really despised it and thought it awful, I'd give it a Certified Crap title and what not. But, I sort of understand my rating might be definitely more on the extreme/radical side, since I hoped for some Lovecraft, and I got an ugly, boring, uninteresting, and at one point simply impossible to be progressed through (softlock) without a patch from the internet, which I didn't know about beforehand. So, no Certified Crap in the title, even if I rated it 2/10 right after finishing it. But, it will be featured in my Certified Crap playlist though. xD
Steam version has a 100% ocurring softlock in the Town Library section of the game. If you didn't apply the patch before entering the Library, you will get perma softlocked, and be forced to Load an earlier game or start over if no manual saves were done. Beware. GOG version apparently might be free of that error. So I recommend playing GOG version. (I don't recommend this game at all though, HARD AVOID)

The game is set in 1927, where the ordinary life of William H. Stanton is affected by matters of the occult and darker truths about our world.
The game starts off in William Stanton's home in Providence, Rhode Island, where he is startled by a knock at his door. As William opens the door he discovers that it is his close friend Edgar acting in a suspicious manner. He gives William a metallic pyramid and tells him not to give it to anyone, including him, especially if he asks for it. After going back inside there is a knock at the door again. This time it's Dr. Egleton, a friend of Edgar's father. He asks William to visit Edgar at his home soon so he can help decide whether or not Edgar should be committed for insanity.
The game then picks up and the player has to solve a series of puzzles and question shady people to find out what is going on, and uncover the truth about the horrible fate that has befallen Edgar.
